Bobby, tell me it isn't so! ID#A0903035 The big black dog syndrome.

I am just worried sick about Bobby ID#A0903035.  He's a gorgeous and large guy who is wonderful.  All the volunteers think he's great. Here is what they are saying:
Bobby is an easy going 7 yr. old neutered male, all black Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever mix, who weighs in at 102 lbs, AND IS HOUSETRAINED (what a plus). In spite of his size and weight, he iseasy to walk on leash. "Took him for a walk around the block and he couldn't be easier to handle; when he started pulling ahead, I merely tugged on the leash, gave him a verbal command and he immediately responded(notes of a volunteer who weighs only 10 lbs more than Bobby)One volunteer describes him as "very chill". He is non reactive to other dogs as can be seen in the video. Even when provoked by other dogs he simply barks at them.
Bobby just enjoys hanging out with people. When being bathed he tolerated all of the fussing that went on and probably enjoyed the extra attention.

His friend Princess got rescued, but poor Bobby is still waiting and time is running out on this fabulous dog.

Here is a flyer to disseminate far and wide:

Beautiful Seniors at SLA shelter need your help today!

I received this email today featuring these 3 lovely dogs that are currently located at the SLA shelter.  The descriptions were written by one of the SLA staff, James, who is a real animal lover and wants to do whatever he can to help.
Please take a trip down to the SLA shelter because they always have tons of amazing dogs and cats that desperately need another chance at life. SLA can always use volunteers as well. Please consider!
To meet these adorable doggies today please go to:

Tyler ID# A0336830
A 14-year-old, neutered Terrier-mix.  Relinquished for “no time.”  Described by his “humans” as housebroken; friendly with company; good with dogs; okay in a car and on leash.  I found him to be gentle, soulful (his eyes speak volumes), walks well, loves soft treats, enjoys sitting in a lap and giving soft kisses.  Tyler is low maintenance and would be a wonderful companion for someone who just enjoys hanging around.

Cookie ID#A1287314
An approximately 8-years-old, spayed Australian Shepherd.  Relinquished for “no time.”  “Humans” said she was outside day and night, but is ‘partially housebroken.’  It appears there was never any time given to Cookie.  This once stunning dog weighed in at the shelter at 129 pounds (about 60+ pounds overweight) and required heavy-duty grooming.  I called her the “Cookie Monster,” but in a nice way.  She is gentle and seemed fine when introduced to a much smaller dog.  She needs someone who will stop feeding her cookies and who will take her for walks and help her lose weight.

Phillip ID#1285312
An approximately 9-years-old, neutered Finnish Spitz/German Shepherd-mix.  Relinquished for being “vocal.”  This handsome, albeit overweight dog, was probably crying out for attention.  Judging by his fly-bitten ears and front teeth that are nubs, this boy probably spent his life outdoors with little human interaction.  When he was brought in to the shelter, there was neither a profile nor even the dog’s name provided.  ACT James thought the name “Phillip” suited him because it sounds “distinguished.”  And Phillip is just that.  He is sharing a kennel with another dog, and despite the barking and commotion inside the shelter, I never heard Phillip make a sound.  He walks well on leash and seemed to enjoy the attention he was getting and did not fuss when I could not resist “smooshing” his jowls.

Urgent adorable seniors at SLA need a friend today!

Sweet seniors in danger at SLA
Meet Jake (14 yrs Lab), Ginger (16 yrs GSD), and Tito (10 yrs Chi). You might not have heard of them before, they may not be famous, but they're a package of three very much worth saving. These unlucky dogs had a mother once. She was a vet tech who saved every animal dumped at the vet. Her family had 16 pets because of her. This kind woman died - leaving a grieving husband and son behind. Their home was foreclosed. And these two men worked hard to find homes for 16 pets. They found homes for 13 of them. But yesterday, hours before they took the rest of their things from the house they once loved, they dropped Tito, Ginger, and Jake off at SLA Shelter. And they wept.

I know it's a lot to ask for three dogs. I know it's a lot to ask for three seniors. I know it's a lot to hope that three black seniors will come out alive. But faith is all we have. If ANYONE can give these three best friends who cried and barked as they were separated into different kennels (SLA is trying to put them together if possible) a chance at a noble ending, an opportunity to live out their golden time as they should - warm, safe, loved - PLEASE RUN TO SLA TO SAVE THEM. They do not have much time left: owner surrendered, black, and old.

They are all neutered and spayed, up to date on shots, healthy, and get along with cats and dogs very well (they lived with 13 others!) In the interest of full disclosure, please note Tito, the Chi is a fear snapper does need someone to go slow with him. Thank you for caring, thank you for networking, thank you for trying to help these three worthy lives. They're good dogs - nothing is wrong with them. Just their luck.

Goofy gus named Henry A1140473, don't hate me cos I'm a BBD

Henry- 2 years old Black Shep mix

What a fun loving boy Henry is or can be when he's lucky enough to hang out with someone long enough to relax and be his regular old self. This boy is sweet and full of energy. He'd love to have a nice yard to run around in, maybe learn a few tricks, play fetch, the works! Definitely a dog who would benefit greatly from some training. Great guy to run with! I know his person is out there somewhere, he's too good to pass up! Henry is urgent! He's been at the shelter since August!!!!!!

Favorite- 7 years old Pit mix

How could someone, right before Xmas no less, dump their dog of 7 years at the shelter for no good reason??? The irony that his name is "favorite" doesn't escape me... It's just so sad. This is a very good dog, except right now he's super depressed. Favorite is so sweet and mellow. He's a good guy and appears to do well with other dogs too! He's very quiet at the shelter even with all that barking going on. I would love to see this boy go to a family with some kid because, apparently Favorite loves kids!
