Another update on Queenie... Returned to the shelter.

I hate to have this news to share, but Queenie was returned after 1 day due to one of the dog's that lived in the home didn't like her and started a fight. No dogs were hurt.  So, back to the drawing board. Please don't forget her, she really needs the help!  Thanks everyone for all your help in networking this great dog!!!

IN HONOR OF BROWNIE WHOSE LIFE SADLY CAME TO AN END BECAUSE OF PNEUMONIA, WE ARE APPLYING THE $400 PLEDGED FOR BROWNIE TOWARDS A RESCUE FOR SWEET QUEENIE WHO IS SLOWLY WITHERING AWAY AT THE SHELTER.  KRIS AT NakashimaK@ballardspahr.com WILL TRACK PLEDGES.

This sweet girl really breaks my heart. She was left at the shelter after a divorce. Queenie had always lived in a home with a family and through no fault of her own, she found herself at the shelter. She's been there for a long time now and her chances get slimmer over time. Please network this wonderful dog!

Queenie ID A1250868: Urgent for Queenie, will she make it home for the holidays?

Queenie ID# (A1250868)

I was just a puppy when I became part of a family.  That was 5 years ago and I was so happy and then my world came to a crashing end.  The people that I loved so much decided to get a divorce and I no longer fit into their plans so they brought me to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.  This was back on Sept. 17, 2011.  I miss them and still look for them but they are not coming back.
I am a spayed Labrador retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. The people who used to be my family described me as friendly with everyone including other dogs.  They said that I was "very nice and a smart dog".
The volunteers at the shelter are now my best friends.  They agree that I am a very nice dog. They take me into the yard where I love to play especially with the larger size balls.  I know how to sit, shake and lay down and because I love treats, there's isn't much that I can't learn.  I need to work on focusing more but when I get out into the yard I forget myself and just enjoy being free again.  I get along just fine with the other dogs so that is a real plus for me and hey guess what?  I am housebroken!
I need a home of my own and someone to love me again and let me show them what a good, loving dog I can be.  It wasn't my fault that I ended up at the shelter.  I would be such a great friend to some lucky person.  Please help me find a home!!

A1145097 - Tulip, 8 year old, spayed, Boxer / Staffy Mix. VERY SAD

TULIP'S FOSTER FELL THROUGH!!!! WE WERE INFORMED LATE LAST NIGHT THAT TULIP'S FOSTER WAS IN A BAD CAR ACCIDENT AND SHE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FOSTER TULIP.

A1145097 - Tulip, 8 year old, spayed, Boxer / Staffy Mix.

This poor dog was ALMOST OUT OF THE SHELTER but when we went to pull her they found a micro chip! So Tulip was put on hold while they tried to contact her former owner's. But the numbers were disconnected, mail returned and no one that we can find missing Tulip....now that she is available to be pulled her foster falls through!!! On top of it, WLA has a temporary moratorium volunteers walking dogs over 20 lbs so while already stressed, you can imagine what she's going through now. The new hope coordinator at WLA Stated:

SHE IS EXTREMELY STRESSED, LICKING THE BARS OF HER CAGE ALL DAY EVERYDAY. TULIP IS A VERY SWEET AND HAPPY DOG....THEY'VE LISTED HER AS 8 BUT SHE TRULY SEEMS 4-5 AT MOST. SHE HAS A LOT OF LIFE IN HER BUT NO PLACE TO LIVE IT. PLEASE PLEASE CROSSPOST AND NETWORK THIS SWEETHEART!!!

THE ONLY REASON TULIP IS STILL ALIVE AT WLA IS BEAUSE THE SHELTER WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO WAIT WHILE WE ORGANIZED LOGISTICS....BUT NOW WE ARE BACK TO SQUARE ON! TULIP IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF A RESCUE OR PRIVATE ADOPTER!!!!

Reggie, he's trying to tell us something!!! HELP!

***VERY URGENT***
REGGIE - A1104261
WEST L.A. SHELTER

Reggie is a terrific guy, if we could only find him the right home! He's a little older but has plenty of love and energy to give. I think he would be such a different dog in a home environment. At the shelter he's a bit amped up from all the chaos and lack of freedom. Once out of the kennel, he settles down and is good on leash. All those who work with him really like him.

He does have some insecurity around other dogs which causes barking. He may be fine once he meets a dog, but we haven't really introduced him to another dog. He seems a little too agitated. One must remember that due to the stressful environment at the shelter some dogs don't do well and are very affected by the stress while others seem just fine. Reggie is stressed out so it is very difficult to assess his temperament with other dogs. He's great with people so that is not an issue.

I hope someone who likes shepherds and the distinguished older gents comes to meet him soon. I'm afraid that good ol' Reggie is running out of time!

The Shelter Chronicles: Oliver is now urgent!

A0764380 - Oliver Red listed!!!

Oliver is a 5 year old, neutered, German Shepherd Mix.

Poor Oliver happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time!! He was returned to the shelter and is now only available to rescue because he accidentally bit someone in the middle of a fight with another dog. Oliver is really a sweet dog that is very obedient and people friendly. It is unclear as to whether Oliver was just defending himself or whether he was the instigator of the fight, however due to the careless actions of one person, Oliver's fate lies in the hands of a rescue organization that is willing to take him.

Oliver meeting Cyrus for the first time.Oli is fine with other friendly dogs when properly introduced.

The Volunteers at the West LA shelter have spent quite a lot of time with Oliver before and after his return, he truly is a soul worth saving.

If you are able to help Oliver please contact the New Hope Coordinator at:
